Have you ever been to Seattle’s both shows? Are you a boat enthusiast? Water is truly everywhere in Seattle and boating is just one of the widely known activities in the city. Settled perfectly between Lake Washington and Puget Sound, Seattle has an infinite number of experiences for every kind of boater. The Lake is the best place for summer events, water sports, and flawless sailing. You could spend every day out on the water and never run out of things to do.

Chuck Fowler, the president of Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society, once said “We’re really tied to the maritime industry as part of our economic health and growth”. And after the city was established and the businesses started expanding, yachts club and recreational boating became more prominent. Seattle has a long maritime history with a one of the highest levels of pleasure boats. This city has many very beautiful waterways to enjoy by canoe, kayak, sailboat, motorboat, and more. 

Seattleites are really fond of their boating culture, since the year 1913 the city has commemorated the official launching of boating season every year. Every summer, Seattle’s Lake Union is covered with boats. The air horn sounds and the race begins. This boating festivals and rituals are salient to Seattle’s culture. There are hundreds of boats, including motor boats, sailboats, and classic watercraft featured in this event every year. Sailboat races and trophy ceremonies are all part of the entertainment. This kind of water party for the Seattleites continues as yearly boating events spread throughout the city’s body of water which includes Vigor Seattle Maritime Festival, the Seattle Boat Show at Qwest Field Event Center, and the Lake Union Boats Afloat Show which runs simultaneously with the Seattle International Boat Show. 

The Seattle Boat Show is the West Coast’s largest boat show and also the third of the largest boat show in the state. Over the years, Seattle has been known to have a long history of boat shows. This show features a massive selection of boats, yachts, sailboats, cruisers, and related accessories and equipment.

Last January 25th of 2019, the 72nd Annual Seattle Boat Show happened, it was a 9-day event organized by Northwest Marine Trade Association and it lasted until February 2nd of 2019. The event started between nine o’clock AM to ten o’clock AM until eight o’clock PM an on weekend, the show is until ten o’clock PM. The boat show is both and indoor and outdoor event, with boats on display inside the Century Link Fields event center an afloat at South Lake Union also known as Chandler’s Cove. The boat show was occupied with over a thousand boats of different shapes, kinds, and sizes. A parade of boats was launched with an impressive canon blast, hundreds of sailboats and motor boats parade through with boat crews dressed in full in conformity of the current year’s theme. There is even a free shuttle that runs every day every 30 minutes between both locations.

It was said in the news that if you are going to visit the boat show, it is much better or make sure to bring some canned goods or non-perishable items. The event is holding a food drive to support local furloughed Coast Guard employees who were affected by the government shutdown.

In addition to that, the show is offering free admission to any federal employees who were affected by the layoff. They just need to present their Federal ID at the ticket window when they arrived at the boat show.

The Seattle Boat Show brings forth to the attendees the opportunity to be amused by boating and various other recreational water activities along with entertainment and much more. There were most likely over 400 exhibitors attended the show who offered a broad range, and most up to ate of marine related products. Such as marine parts, engines, marinas and moorage, insurance, lending and repair are on the deck also at both locations. The show also offered free boat rides and craft beers as well. This boat show was absolutely a dazzler to all the maritime enthusiasts as well as professionals alike. The show was open even on late weeknights, so you can hang out at the boat show to beat the viaduct traffic

The event also highlighted over 230 boating and fishing seminars taught by maritime experts to help the participants widen their familiarity of the boating world.
