Easy Full Move Out Cleaning To-Do List

Having a home is a right that should be accessible for everybody. It is actually not a luxury, it is a basic necessity that everyone must have. A home provides stability, intimacy, and security. Having a home is not just having a roof; it also means improvement in your physical and mental health, recovery from your environmental relationship, and learning time and income management. With that being said, there are some homeowners who decide to sell their home and move out. Maybe they wanted to have an upgrade of their home or the property is too small for them, job relocation, personal relationships and the likes. We have our own reasons why we come to a decision of selling our house. Owing to the fact that a homeowner is selling their home, means they are moving out and they have tough job to do – cleaning the house.

Moving out feels like a never-ending chore, it’s tiring, it takes a lot of effort and – patience. Most of us think that cleaning the whole house is a burden and gruesome. This is where hiring a professional cleaning services takes place. You can ask for their help to avoid the frustration of getting your house cleaned all by yourself.

However, if you opted to do the cleaning on your own and with your family, here is a list of some easy move out cleaning hacks.

In preparation to your cleaning situation, put some good music, your playlist, this way it can help you be in a good mood and still enjoy while cleaning.

TAKE IT FROM THE TOP TO BOTTOM

Ceilings and Walls

·         Use a long-handled duster wit microfiber attachment to remove the dust from the ceiling and ceiling fans.

·         For Flat Ceilings: Mix 1 cup of warm water, 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and 4 drops of liquid detergent. Sprinkle the area lightly, and then use a damp painting roller or microfiber mop to cover it. Cover the roller, dipped in water with a clean, white cloth and remove the soap from the area again.

·         For Textured Ceilings: Using a dry paint roller brush, you can remove the light dust covering the ceilings. Heavier soils and cobwebs can be cleaned with soft brushes and a vacuum cleaner.

·         Make sure to patch holes in the walls. Apply some putty walls to cover them up and repaint if needed.

·         Remove all the artwork, decorations from the wall.

·         Dust off your walls using a broom with towel; wipe the walls from the top down.

·         Using a clean washcloth or sponge, scrub down your walls from top to bottom with warm soapy water. Make sure not to stain your walls.

Tip: Cleaning ceiling fan blades could be really messy, to reduce the falling off the dust, slip an old pillow case on each blade and wipe them away from the center of the fixture using the inside of the pillow case’s top layer.

Windows

·         In cleaning windows, use a streak-free glass cleaner and wipe them off using newspaper.

·         Remove window frames when cleaning the window screens, scrub with all-purpose cleaner mixed with warm water.

·         Scrub the screen with a bristle brush, and then rinse off using a hose and put it back to window and let it dry.

·         For a large and hard to reach windows – Use a professional-quality squilgee or squeegee (a tool with flat-smooth rubber blade)

Kitchen

·         Dust off the top of the cabinets, and then wipe out cabinets as well as the shelves.

·         Wipe out drawers; clean cabinet doors back and front.

·         Sanitize all knobs and pulls

·         Make sure the oven and stove top are dirt-free

·         Clean up and disinfect the fridge and oven inside and out; clean under and behind them as well.

·         Disinfect kitchen sink, counter-tops and pantry shelves – make sure to wipe them down.

·         Sweep and steam clean floor

Tip: One of the best ways to remove stubborn stove-top stains are baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Mix the baking soda with a small amount of hydrogen peroxide in a bowl to make a paste. Lay it out over the stove-top and let it sit for 15 minutes and then scrub for the final touch.

Bathrooms

·         Take out the rugs and wastebaskets

·         Pull out everything from the tub/shower

·         Remove all your toiletries (If you haven’t done it yet from the beginning)

·         Dust the vents and exhaust fan

·         Clean the vanity light fixtures

·         Wipe out all the drawers, cabinets (including front and back doors) and clean the shelves

·         Disinfect knobs, counter-tops, sink, tub, shower and shower head.

·         Clean the toilet bowl thoroughly.

·         Spray everything with all-purpose cleaner (except the toilet, vanity, shower, tub and mirror)

·         Clean shower rack and soap dishes

·         Clean the tiles using grout cleaner

·         Clean mirror by spraying glass cleaner on soft cloth

·         Shine the handles and the faucets

·         Wash the floor with solution, and dry them up

Tip: Hard water stains in shower-heads and faucets can be difficult to remove. To get rid of them, rub them with fresh lemon. The acid is excellent at breaking down hard water stains, and makes metal surfaces look like sparkly new.

Carpets

·         If you are going to leave the carpet behind, make sure to vacuum it, there are lots of allergens in the carpet and vacuuming it is really necessary.

·         If there are holes in the carpet, make sure to patch them up.

Floors

·         Make sure to vacuum the floor first

·         Mop the floors – starting from the farthest corner of the room and move back toward the entrance using water and light detergent and a rag or cloth.

·         After mopping, dry the floor and sweep; make sure there are no more dust covering the floor.

Baseboards

·         Using a broom, sweep of the dirt in your baseboard or a dry rag to sweep off the dust

·         Vacuum the area

·         Use a wet cloth to remove any remaining dust or dirt.

·         Clean the baseboards using a sponge or a soft toothbrush, a bucket of water with small amount of liquid detergent.

·         After cleaning, use a damp rag to remove any left residue.
